Olga Tumanova
Artist
Olga Tumanova is an artist, experienced educator, and historian.
Born in 1964 in Chelyabinsk. She received an education as a historian and subsequently taught at school for many years.
"Years of teaching the history of culture, among other histories and social disciplines, demands an outlet for intellectual product," believes Olga. Thus, in 2006, she ended her teaching career and began actively pursuing painting. That same year, she obtained additional education as an artist-designer and also studied for three years at an international drawing school.
Primary media: oil and watercolor.
Favorite genres: landscape, still life (often with historical references), and fantasy subjects.
Prefers deep shades of blue, ochre, sepia; avoids pure black.
Her work shows influences of the Renaissance and avant-garde.
Olga has created over 450 works. In April 2026, her paintings will be exhibited at the World Art in Dubai exhibition in Dubai.
Olga Tumanova's path to painting unfolded after many years of teaching—when she felt the desire to speak the language of color, light, and form. "Painting is another way of telling stories," says Olga.
Olga's paintings invite hours of contemplation. They possess a special depth, richness of color, and a profusion of light. Her virtuoso mastery of genre and materials allows Olga Tumanova to create a sense of "presence." One feels not only the desire to touch the painting but also to step inside it. The viewer is transported into a looking-glass world, becoming not a mere observer but a direct participant in the painting.
Her professions as an educator and historian enabled Olga Tumanova to develop skills of intense concentration and attentiveness to detail. The practice of focused observation on a point in space while simultaneously monitoring the surrounding background allowed Olga to see every detail up close and every scale from afar. This ability to perceive the grand scale without missing minute details became the very strength that compelled her to create the most complex forms and lines with canvas and brush.
