Evgenia Petrenko
Artist
Evgenia Petrenko is an artist from Chelyabinsk who found her true calling in creating acrylic paintings.
She never imagined she would become an artist. For years, she worked hard and dreamed of traveling. But one trip changed everything…
"That year, I visited the Maldives for the first time. The crystal-clear water, coral reefs, and incredible underwater life struck me to the very core of my soul. During my very first dive, I saw her—a majestic whale shark, slowly gliding through the coral gardens. Her grace and tranquility captured my entire imagination."
Upon returning home, Evgenia couldn't shake the images and memories of that trip. She started to paint: at first just for herself, trying to reproduce what she had seen. Her first canvases were clumsy, but with each new piece, the imagery became better and more refined. "I kept improving at conveying the play of light in the water, the intricate shapes of the coral, and the fluid movements of sea creatures," Evgenia recounts.
She was particularly fascinated by manta rays—those astonishing creatures that seem to soar through the water. Evgenia would spend hours watching them online, studying their behavior and anatomy. Her paintings grew increasingly realistic, but more importantly, they began to develop a soul.
Soon, her work caught the attention of others. Tourists from the Maldives recognized in her canvases the very places where they themselves had swum. Evgenia developed her own unique style—vibrant, rich colors and dynamic compositions in which marine life seemed to come alive. Now, her studio gives birth to paintings that fill the viewer with the majesty of the ocean and the grace of its creatures. Her artworks are successfully sold in Russia and abroad.
But most importantly, Evgenia Petrenko's paintings continue to tell stories about the mysterious underwater world she discovered on those tropical islands. Every time she picks up a brush, Evgenia remembers that first dive and understands—the ocean changed her life forever, granting her a true calling and a love for the depths of the sea.
