Description

The painting was created by artist Olga Tumanova, Chelyabinsk

It was painted from a photograph taken by the artist in the village of Turgoyak during the cold month of February. It's chilly outside, the sun is nowhere to be seen, and a cat sits half-asleep on a fence. But he's not sleeping; one eye is just slyly squinted, observing everything. And although the cat isn't on a warm stove but on a snow-covered fence, he looks so cozy and wise. The artist enjoyed painting this picture—not just the cat, but also the wooden window frames, the glass, and the wires. All these details create depth and emphasize the village life and existence of Vasily.

The cat was given his name by the artist's colleagues as the image began to emerge on the canvas. They all unanimously said: "Definitely, Vasily!"

An interesting feature of the painting is that it's executed on a natural-colored linen canvas, sized with gelatin, without acrylic primer, which makes the image more natural.
